Thomas Legg

TPMA Board Treasurer

Thomas Legg is retired and divides his time between a cabin in northern Minnesota and downtown Minneapolis.

Tom is a CPA (retired) and has a Ph.D. in applied economics. He began his career as an auditor and worked primarily with nonprofits and government agencies. After completing graduate school, he spent twenty six years teaching at the college level. He retired from the Finance Department at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management in 2014.

Since retiring, he has studied, written, and spoken on poverty and income inequality. He has also served as a volunteer music programmer, Board member and Treasurer of an independent public radio station. He serves on a committee seeking legislation that would require Minnesota legislators to explicitly consider the impact of future legislation on racial and economic disparities. Tom has also served as Treasurer for two State Senate District campaigns. He is Acting Vice President of Grand Rapids Area Freethinkers, a chapter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
